Position Summary: The Maintenance and Safety Supervisor is responsible for developing and monitoring a comprehensive safety program to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulations and also ensures the smooth running of maintenance/upkeep on the building, grounds, and equipment is in good condition.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Schedule, prepare, conduct and document new employee safety training and safety meetings on all company, OSHA required and site-specific training. This can include videos, handouts, written testing, discussions and hands-on demonstrations.
- Provide direct leadership to the maintenance staff to include assigning duties to staff, overseeing their work, conducting performance evaluations, and hiring and providing employee development opportunities.
- Act as liaison for management with various safety agencies including county, state, and federal inspectors.
- Maintain the Safety and Health Guidelines, Field Safety Manual and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to make certain they are current and complete.
- Administer completion of a direct and thorough accident investigation following all employee injury or near miss incidents in the plant or on the job site(s) and ensure that resulting decisions and recommendations are acted upon and maintain copies of these reports for the company records.
- Order and maintain inventory levels of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies and First Aid products and make sure they are readily available to employees; Maintain the eyewash stations, cleaning and refilling the bottles as necessary.
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled walk-throughs of the workplace (to include off-site job sites) on a regular basis to monitor safe work practices are being followed and unsafe conditions or practices are identified and reported to the Deputy Director of Operations and corrected as soon as possible.
- Coordinate and schedule CPR and First Aid training with certified instructors when necessary.
- Assure that all warning signs are in good order; all pinch points or dangerous areas are clearly identified by adding new signage when indicated.
- Maintain stock levels of all building supplies (cleaning products, bathroom toiletries, soaps, lotions etc.).
- Perform regular walk-throughs and checks to ensure the quality of the building is being upheld.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline orientated environment.
- Maintain work area, organized and orderly, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Qualifications Desired:
- Previous Health & Safety experience and up to date certifications
- CPR and First Aid Certified
- Five years related experience in maintenance repair or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Licensed FCC operator and forklift OSHA certified
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Reaching - reach up to heights of 60 inches to position and retrieve needed materials.
- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office environment in a cubicle and/or office and will also be exposed to moving machinery in a temperature-controlled environment and includes exposure to contaminants (mainly dust). Noise level: low to high (appropriate PPE is provided to all employees).
